Sometimes PPF needs to be removed, this could be for several reasons but the most common is the film has been damaged and needs to be replaced.
Removing DIY PPF is an easy and simple process, some people are afraid of paintwork damage or peeling upon removal, but there is nothing to worry about as long as you take your time!
Ideally, you should leave the car out in direct sunlight to get the film warm, if it's a cold day, it will be harder to remove. A top tip is to pour warm water over the film to heat it slightly before removal.
Begin by starting to peel the film from the edge of a panel. A hairdryer or heat gun is always helpful to warm any sticky spots.
Work your way slowly across the panel, heating if necessary whilst removing the film at a shallow angle, pulling towards yourself. Do not fold the film over and pull!
Some adhesive may be left behind, this can easily be removed with tar and glue remover. Removing PPF is nothing to be afraid of, just take your time if should you need to replace a panel, take a look at our website for individual panel replacement.
