DIY PPF Academy Lesson 19 - Selecting your tack points

During the installation process of a wing, it is crucial to select tack points strategically for proper alignment and adhesion. To effectively tack the wing:

Identify areas that need significant stretching, likely more material on one side
Tack areas from top to bottom and ensure three points of contact before stretching
Align the fuel filler caps and address overlaps and gaps by strategically placing tacks
Once initial tacks are placed, squeegee the panel to remove any slip from under the film
When tackling the front bonnet using the same principles:

Apply tack solution generously for adhesion in the four corners
Align each corner carefully before squeegeeing the film
Adjust positioning as necessary to ensure precise alignment
Reposition film if needed to achieve perfect alignment, even if it requires covering a wider area for better adhesion
Follow the same process across every panel of the car. Remember, use tack where you want it to grab and line up, use slip to release the film.
